A pair of house finches chose a coconut bra near our busy back door for their nesting site. They try to nest here every spring, but we usually discourage them because we’re in and out so frequently. This year, however, they got the jump on us, so we did our best to let them be. Mama laid three eggs. One egg didn’t hatch, one baby didn’t make it, but one lovely little darling fledged successfully. The birds were camera shy, however. Despite my best efforts, the birds would flit away every time I tried to capture a photo of them entering or leaving the nest. But what an honor to enjoy and be a part of their nesting experience!
