Description

Mourning doves have been nesting in the particular pot for the past three years – the geraniums are located in one of the most heavily trafficked areas of our home – on the patio between our kitchen and bedroom’s sliding doors – we’ve watched about 15 dove chicks be born in that time – two at a time, three times a year . . . and the survival rate has not been very good. This year the doves prepared the nest, the female laid the eggs and then both parents disappeared. The eggs have been abandoned for 3 or 4 days now. After observing these doves for all this time – I think I’ve come to understand why they are mourning.
