Hummingbird
An Poem by C. Polemi
I wish I were a hummingbird, up high atop a tree.
I wish I were a hummingbird, buzzing like a bee.
I wish I were a hummingbird, so bright, so light, so free. Won't you be a hummingbird, and fly away with me?
If I were a hummingbird, I'd claim territory.
To drink from funneled flowers, helping them as they help me.
I'm generous, but in a fuss, and might object if some elect, to drink from them for free.
I wish I were a hummingbird, up high atop a tree.
I wish I were a hummingbird, buzzing like a bee.
I wish I were a hummingbird, so bright, so light, so free. Won't you be a hummingbird, and fly away with me?
If I were a hummingbird, I'd dash and dart and dive. I'd fly straight up and then I’d stop.
I'd zoom straight down, not hit the ground.
You'd know that I’m alive.
I wish I were a hummingbird, up high atop a tree.
I wish I were a hummingbird, buzzing like a bee.
I wish I were a hummingbird, so bright, so light, so free. Won't you be a hummingbird, and fly away with me?
If you were a hummingbird, we'd build a tiny nest.
Made with spider webs and twigs, we'd only use the best. You'd lay our jelly belly eggs, and then we'd take a rest. Let's have a little family, and hope there's more like us.
I wish I were a hummingbird, up high atop a tree.
I wish I were a hummingbird, buzzing like a bee.
I wish I were a hummingbird, so bright, so light, so free. Won't you be a hummingbird, and fly away with me?

Description
It came to me as i woke up one day. I have always loved birds, and love learning their behaviors.
