Description

After many years of nesting in silk-flower planters on our front porch, the House Finches were absent for several years but returned this year. They seemed to have difficulty deciding which planter to build their nest in, finally deciding on a planter that was located differently than the one they used previously. I didn’t want to alarm the parents but did want to verify eggs/hatchlings, consequently the picture is not very clear. I was very happy to see them return and raise a brood; they fledged about 2-3 weeks after this picture.
