The Thicklets

We are a group of high school students from Patchogue-Medford, NY. We are on a mission to restore bird habitat in the Fish Thicket Land Preserve. The Fish Thicket is a 100+ acre preserve in Medford, NY that we, as students of Patchogue-Medford, are stewards of. We are working with Cornell Cooperative Extension and hope to increase awareness in our community about our local environment.
[img id=”1364″ align=”left” size=”medium”]Our team has accomplished many sub-projects:

  • The creation and installation of Screech Owl nests.
  • Planting a beneficial garden.
  • Cleaning up the Thicket.
  • Many community educational events.

[img id=”1365″ align=”right” size=”thumbnail”]We traveled to The Cornell Lab of Ornithology for a full day immersion of talks, tours, and sharing. We also did a presentation on our project during our visit and at the New York State Fair.

We hope to see you at Fish Thicket on East Woodside Ave soon!
