Thanks to Optics for the Tropics, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology cordially invites Latin American and Caribbean organizations or groups to apply for our mini-grants for binoculars. if you are a project coordinator, and require binoculars, this mini-grant could help you in your activities. These mini-grants provide up to 10 pairs of binoculars, but most winning organizations will receive 5 pairs of binoculars. We want to support as many organizations and groups as possible, but we have a limited number of binoculars. We are especially interested in supporting organizations and groups that work with low-income, or underserved communities.
The Cornell Lab of Ornithology will consider applications that meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be part of a Latin American or Caribbean organization or group conducting activities within this region. Note: binoculars will NOT be awarded to individuals.
- The proposal should include educational activities about birds for the community and/or bird monitoring.
- The binoculars should be used and shared with community members in bird citizen science activities and data collection for a Cornell Lab of Ornithology project such as Celebrate Urban Birds or eBird (aVerAves, or other associated platforms).
